Цель данной статьи — рассмотреть одну из стилистических тенденций в загородной архитектуре высоковикторианского времени, сравнительно малоизученную. В фокусе нашего исследовательского внимания оказывается частное загородное строительство, поскольку именно в нем по очевидным причинам роль индивидуальных вкусовых предпочтений заказчика наиболее велика и, соответственно, наиболее яркие примеры самых разнообразных стилистических тенденций можно встретить именно в этой сфере строительства. Выявив одну из таких тенденций, на конкретных примерах попытаемся уяснить, чем диктовался нетривиальный стилистический выбор и каковы могли быть привлекаемые образцы для подражания и заимствований.

The purpose of this article is to consider one of the stylistic trends in suburban architecture of the high Victorian period, which has been relatively little studied. The focus of our research attention is private suburban construction, since it is in it that, for obvious reasons, the role of individual taste preferences of the customer is greatest and, accordingly, the most striking examples of a wide variety of stylistic trends can be found in this particular field of construction. Having identified one of these trends, we will use specific examples to try to understand what dictated a non-trivial stylistic choice and what could be the role models and borrowings involved.
