Статья посвящена исследованию различных вариаций адаптации характерного для церковного зодчества Эфиопии, начиная с XVI в., центрического плана к специфике создания частично скальных сооружений в регионе Тыграй. В работе рассматривается ряд примечательных памятников региона, предлагается их датировка, а также обозначаются вероятные периоды изменения ключевых тенденций в истории церковного строительства этой африканской страны. Также автор дает краткий обзор версий происхождения центрического храма как такового в эфиопской традиции.
The article is devoted to the study of different variations of the adaptation of the centric plan (characteristic for the church architecture of Ethiopia, starting from the 16th century) to the specifics of creating semi-rock-hewn structures in the Tigray region of northern Ethiopia. The paper considers a number of notable monuments of the region, suggests their dating, and also identifies probable periods of changing in the history of church building in this African country. The author also gives a brief overview of the versions of the origin of the centric plan churches in the Ethiopian tradition.
