<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The Green Mosque in Bursa, Anatolia, is part of the Mehmed I Memorial Complex, a textbook monument of the 15th century, with an extensive historiography and considered a watershed in the history of Early Ottoman architecture. Its restoration by L. Parvillee after the earthquake of 1855 and subsequent publication became the starting point for the formation of Ottoman architectural historicism, and the building itself served as an important model for the development of the neo-Ottoman style. However, there is still no consensus on the original composition of the main (northern) façade and the presence of a portico (son cemaat yeri), necessary for typological compliance with the memorial purpose of the building. At the same time, by the time of the construction of the Green Mosque the type of Ottoman ulu-cami had already been formed, which did not imply the presence of a façade portico, but the attribution of the monument in question to this model contradicts both the function and the layout of the iwan mosque, the type of which had developed earlier in the sultan’s memorial complexes of Bursa. A number of surviving elements allowed the founder of the typology of Ottoman religious architecture, A. Kuran, to put forward the thesis about the incompleteness of the construction, to reconstruct the Green Mosque with a façade portico and on this basis to unambiguously attribute it to the “Bursa type”. The opinion has become entrenched in the literature that the originally planned portico was not erected due to the death of the customer.</p><p>The available textual and pictorial sources make us doubt the legitimacy of such a reconstruction, and take a closer look at the romanticized renovations of the monument and the ideas about it at the stage of restoration work, noting that already in the era of the “Ottoman Renaissance” the perception of the building did not correspond to its actual state.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>Зеленая мечеть</kwd><kwd>Бурса</kwd><kwd>Мехмед I</kwd><kwd>реставрация</kwd><kwd>портик</kwd><kwd>Леон Парвилле</kwd><kwd>Осман Хамди</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Green Mosque</kwd><kwd>Bursa</kwd><kwd>Mehmed I</kwd><kwd>restoration</kwd><kwd>portico</kwd><kwd>Leon Parvillee</kwd><kwd>Osman Hamdi</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Кононенко 2016/1 — Кононенко Е.И.
