В статье рассматривается эволюция теоретических представлений об оборонительном зодчестве на протяжении 1700 лет, с середины III в. до н. э. по середину XV в. Древнейший дошедший до нас трактат, в котором значительное место уделено фортификации, это труд Филона Византийского (сер. III в. до н. э.). Взгляды Филона в статье сопоставляются с представлениями о военной архитектуре Витрувия (вторая пол. I в. до н. э.) и Вегеция (рубеж IV и V вв.). После долгого перерыва, только в XV в., появляется новый архитектурный трактат Леона Баттисты Альберти «Десять книг о зодчестве». Еще один привлекаемый в данной статье «Трактат об архитектуре» Кватроченто принадлежит перу Антонио ди Пьетро Аверлино, более известного как Филарете. Автор статьи ставит перед собой задачу выяснить, насколько теоретические взгляды античных авторов воплощались на практике и оказались востребованы в эпоху раннего Возрождения - в Кватроченто, когда после долгого забвения вновь появляются архитектурные трактаты, а военное зодчество находится в поиске новых форм и испытывает переход от средневековых образов к «новой фортификации» (fortificazione alla moderna, как ее называли в Италии). Ввиду большого объема статья разбита на две части. Первая часть, в которой внимание было уделено планам оборонительных сооружений, была опубликована в выпуске 16 журнала «Вопросы всеобщей истории архитектуры». В представленной второй части разбираются архитектурные формы и военно-инженерные сооружения: рвы и внешние укрепления, куртины, башни, ворота. В результате проведенного анализа автор приходит к выводу, что взгляды Филона Византийского не были голой теорией, почти для всех упоминаемых им систем и архитектурных форм есть примеры из числа сохранившихся памятников. Более того, Филон, по-видимому, изобрел или предвосхитил некоторые новые решения в фортификации. Витрувий, Вегеций, Альберти и Филарете, по мнению автора статьи, не были знакомы с «Полиоркетикой» Филона Византийского, так как в их работах не встречается ни одной идеи Филона.
The article examines the evolution of theoretical concepts of defensive architecture over 1700 years, from the middle of the 3rd century BC to the middle of the 15th century. The oldest surviving treatise, in which a significant place is given to fortification, is the work of Philon of Byzantium (mid-3rd century BC). Philon’s views are compared in the article with the views of the military architecture of Vitruvius (second half of the 1st century BC) and Vegetius (the turn of the 4th and 5th centuries). After a long break, only in the 15th century, a new architectural treatise by Leon Battista Alberti “De re aedificatoria” appears. Another treatise on architecture (“Libro architettonico”) used in this article belongs to the pen of Antonio di Pietro Averlino, better known as Filarete. The author of the article sets himself the task of finding out to what extent the theoretical views of ancient authors were embodied in practice and were in demand in the early Renaissance - in Quattrocento, when, after a long oblivion, architectural treatises reappear, and military architecture is in search of new forms and is experiencing a transition from medieval images to the “new fortification” (fortificazione alla moderna, as it was called in Italy). Due to the large volume, the article is divided into two parts. The first part, in which attention was paid to plans for defensive structures, was published in Issue 16 of “Questions of the History of World Architecture”. In the second part presented below, architectural forms and military engineering structures are analyzed: ditches and external fortifications, curtains, towers, gates. As a result of the analysis, the author comes to the conclusion that the views of Philon of Byzantium were not a bare theory, for there are examples among the surviving monuments of almost all the systems and architectural forms he mentioned. Moreover, Philon seems to have invented or anticipated some new solutions in fortification. Vitruvius, Vegetius, Alberti and Filarete, in the opinion of this author, were not familiar with the “Poliorcetika” of Philo of Byzantium, since not a single idea of Philon is found in their works.
