Автором проведен анализ эволюции принципов «структурного рационализма» в архитектуре первой половины XX в. на примере творчества представителей модерна, неоклассицизма, итальянского рационализма и раннего модернизма. На протяжении XIX столетия усиливается значение конструктивного каркаса в формировании архитектурно-художественного образа здания, что определило особенности «структурного рационализма»: признание ценности тектонической логики готической и классической архитектуры («готический» и «классический» рационализм); выявление конструктивной структуры в архитектурной форме, отказ от деталей, не имеющих конструктивного смысла (Ж.-Ж. Суффло, С. Дейли); «визуальная тектоничность» (Э. Трэйн); комбинированная конструктивная структура, художественное осмысление новых строительных материалов и конструкций («железная архитектура», О. Перре). Выявлены сложившиеся в архитектуре рубежа XIX-XX вв. основные принципы «структурного рационализма» и показано разнообразие их прочтения в творческих концепциях ведущих представителей архитектурных школ 1920-1940-х гг. (О. Перре, В. Гропиус, Ле Корбюзье, Мис ван дер Роэ и др.). Поиск новой эстетики модернизма требует полной независимости композиционно-художественных поисков как от исторических реминисценций, так и от выявления логики конструктивной основы. Неприемлемым кажется в этих условиях и еще одно достижение утилитарно-технического рационализма - определение архитектурной формы логикой конструкции и функционального назначения. В концепциях представителей модернизма на смену принципам «структурного рационализма» приходит идея освобождения архитектурной формы от несущего каркаса. Работы представителей итальянского рационализма, обратившегося к классическому наследию, отличающиеся сложным взаимодействием объема и структурного каркаса, наиболее отчетливо развивают традиции «структурного рационализма».
The author analyzes the evolution of the principles of “structural rationalism” in the architecture of the first half of the XX century on the example of the creativity of representatives of modernity, neoclassicism, Italian rationalism and early modernism. Throughout the 19th century, the importance of the constructive structure in the formation of the artistic image of the building increased. The features of “structural rationalism” were identified: recognition of the value of the tectonic logic of gothic and classical architecture (“gothic” and “classical” rationalism); identification of a constructive structure in an architectural form, rejection of details that do not have a constructive meaning (J.-J. Soufflot, S. Daly); “visual tectonicity” (E. Train); combined constructive structure, artistic comprehension of new building materials and structures (“iron architecture”, O. Perret). The basic principles of “structural rationalism” that have developed in the architecture of the turn of the XIX-XX centuries are revealed. The diversity of their reading in the creative concepts of the leading representatives of the architectural schools of the 1920s-1940s was shown (O. Perret, V. Gropius, Le Corbusier, Mies van der Rohe and others). The search for a new aesthetics of modernism requires complete independence of compositional and artistic searches from historical reminiscences, as well as from the influence of a constructive structure.
The architects of modernism abandoned many of the principles of utilitarian and technical rationalism - the definition of an architectural form by the logic of construction and functional purpose. In the concepts of the representatives of modernism, the principles of “structural rationalism” are replaced by the idea of freeing the architectural form from the supporting frame. The works of representatives of Italian rationalism, who turned to the classical heritage, are distinguished by a complex interaction of volume and structural framework. They develop the traditions of “structural rationalism” most clearly.
