В данной статье обращено внимание на латинское слово красота (venustas) в трактате Витрувия «Десять книг об архитектуре». Когда становится очевидным, что слова venustas и Venus принадлежат к одной семантической группе слов, важно понимать, что venustas - это красота как таковая, без дополнительных обращений к чему/кому-либо еще. Об этом свидетельствуют этимологические штудии Э. Покорного и С. Старостина. Они касаются многих древних обозначений из индоевропейской языковой сферы. Для наших целей первостепенный интерес представляют образчики латинского и иранского ареалов, вместе выражающих идею слова и идею красоты как таковой.

После вводных замечаний об этимологии красоты как таковой в статье приводятся два примера. Первый касается целостной и структурной организации Пантеона в Риме. Второй пример связан с орнаментальным убранством мавзолея Саманидов в Бухаре.

Таким образом, визуальный образ красоты не может состояться без целостности образной (метафорической, символической) и структурной. Единство слова и визуальности порождает безотносительный образ красоты как таковой, в нашей работе примером тому служат Пантеон в Риме и мавзолей Саманидов в Бухаре.

Our article basing on Vitruvius treatise “Ten Books on Architecture” concerned with a word beauty (venustas). It becomes obvious - the word venustas and Venus belong to the same semantic group. The Venustas meaning is beauty as such, without additional calls to anything/anyone else. Everything said is confirmed by the etymological studies of E. Pokorny and S. Starostin. It’s concern with many ancient designations from the Indo-European language sphere. For our purposes, the primary interest is the samples of the Latin and Iranian ranges, together expressing the idea of the word and the idea of beauty as such.

After introductory remarks about the etymology of beauty as such, the article gives two examples. The first concerns the holistic and structural organization of the Pantheon in Rome. The second example is associated with the ornate decoration of the Samanid mausoleum in Bukhara.

Thus, visual images of beauty cannot take place without the integrity of figurative (metaphorical, symbolic) and structural positions. The unity of words and visuals give rise to an unrelenting image of beauty as such, in our work the Pantheon in Rome and the Samanid mausoleum in Bukhara serve as an example of this.
