Цель данной статьи - выявление концепций рациональности в архитектурной теории рубежа XVIII- XIX вв. и определение их влияния на формирование профессионального мировоззрения второй половины XIX - начала XX в.
Доминирующим направлением в эпоху классицизма стал поиск эстетического совершенства, выявление универсальных законов красоты средствами разума. Для этого архитекторы XVIII в. обращаются к образцам древнегреческого и ренессансного зодчества, лучшим примерам классицизма XVII в. Эстетический рационализм эволюционирует от поиска идеального произведения исторической архитектуры и выявления закономерностей его создания к разработке универсальных правил красоты. В 1750-1790-е гг. в Европе, в первую очередь во Франции, сформировались два направления - «готический» и «классический» рационализм. Эти концепции объединяло представление о том, что архитектура лучше всего выражается в наиболее экономном использовании структурных форм. Ряд теоретиков рубежа XVIII-XIX вв. (Ж. Ж. Суффло, М.-А. Ложье, Э. Л. Булле, М.-Ж. Пейр, Дж. Н. Л. Дюран) стремятся расширить традиционные представления о «хорошей» архитектуре. Они приходят не только к новой интерпретации понятия красоты зданий, но и к признанию структурной честности и удобства функционирования как важнейших характеристик. Таким образом, в недрах теории классицизма появляются идеи функционализма и «структурного» рационализма. Теоретические концепции рубежа XVIII-XIX вв. объединяет историзм мышления, обязательный поиск образца, который становится материалом для исследования и моделью для повторения - будь то лучшие произведения древнегреческого, ренессансного и классицистического зодчества (эстетический рационализм), функционально-планировочное решение древнеримских зданий или конструктивные приемы готической архитектуры (зарождающийся функционализм и «структурный» рационализм).
The purpose of this article is identifying the concepts of rationality in the architectural theory at the turn of the 18th-19th centuries and determining their influence on the formation of architectural thought in the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries.
The dominant trend in the architecture of classicism is the search for aesthetic perfection, the identification of the universal laws of beauty by means of reason. For this, the architects of the 18th century turn to examples of ancient Greek architecture, Renaissance architecture and the best examples of classicism of the 17th century. Aesthetic rationalism evolves from the search for the ideal piece of architecture and the identification of the patterns of its creation to the development of universal rules of beauty. In the 1750s and 1790s in Europe, primarily in France, two directions in architecture were formed - "Gothic" rationalism and "classical" rationalism. These concepts were united by the idea that architecture is best expressed in the most economical use of structural forms.
Architectural trends at the turn of the 18th-19th centuries (J. J. Soufflot, M.-A. Laugier, E. L. Bull, M.-J. Peyre, J. N. L. Durand) strive to expand the traditional understanding of "good" architecture. They reinterpret the concept of architectural beauty and recognize the importance of structural integrity and functional comfort in buildings. The theoretical concepts at the turn of the 18th-19th centuries combine the historicism of thinking, the obligatory search for a pattern, models for repetition embodied in works of ancient Greek, Renaissance and classicist architecture (aesthetic rationalism), functional planning solutions of ancient Roman buildings, constructive techniques of Gothic architecture (emerging functionalism and "structural" rationalism).
