<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The Middle Kingdom in the history of ancient Egyptian architecture is marked by great attention to the architectural achievements of the past. Architects, however, reviving the traditions of pyramid-building, use some new constructive and stylistic features as well. The design of the inner chambers of the kings’ burials of the XI and XII centuries dynasties is also very diverse: architects combine direct quotations of ancient samples with unique solutions. The pyramid complex of Senwosret III in Dahshur is one of the most interesting royal monuments of the Middle Kingdom, not only due to its excellent preservation, but also due to the unusual design. The article discusses the features of its burial chamber, laid out in granite slabs and later covered with plaster - both the construction and the color. The author believes that not only the construction material for sacred architectural objects, but its color characteristics as well serve the purpose of embodying the religious ideas of the ancient Egyptians about the very foundations of their Universe.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>Сенусерт III</kwd><kwd>Среднее царство</kwd><kwd>пирамидное строительство</kwd><kwd>заупокойный культ</kwd><kwd>архаическое мышление</kwd><kwd>цвет в архитектуре</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Senwosret III</kwd><kwd>Middle Kingdom Egypt</kwd><kwd>pyramid building</kwd><kwd>funerary practices</kwd><kwd>archaic mind</kwd><kwd>color in architecture</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Александрова Е.
