<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Researchers deal with extensive historiography on the topic of Indian Gardens of the Mughal Empire (1526-1858). Precise layout, adherence to geometry, as well as the availability of visual materials and written sources, help to make explicit reconstruction of many complexes. The preceding period of the Delhi Sultanate (1206-1526) is less studied, although every dynasty made a contribution to Indian art history. The architectural monuments of this period are less well-known and preserved, and their natural environment was completely lost or damaged by the later urban development practice. However, historical documents and elements of the artificial structures (ponds, dams, terraces, walls) allow us to talk about the developed “garden politics” of the Sultanate period. Researchers often overlook the topic, although it is impossible to ignore the connections between the early Muslim and the more famous Mughal-era gardens. Nevertheless, it is quite interesting to reconstruct and trace the continuity (or the lack thereof ) between the forgotten landscape art of the sultans and the monuments of the Mughal Empire.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>Делийский султанат</kwd><kwd>Могольская империя</kwd><kwd>сады</kwd><kwd>планировка</kwd><kwd>водоемы</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Delhi Sultanate</kwd><kwd>Mughal Empire</kwd><kwd>gardens</kwd><kwd>layout</kwd><kwd>ponds</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Бабур-наме: Записки Бабура.
