<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The Imperial Crown Style is a very interesting phenomenon in the history of Japanese architecture. Appearing in the 1930s, it quickly became wide-spread and for approximately 10 years had been playing a significant role in the politics and culture of Japan. During this time, key administrative and public buildings in major Japanese cities were built in the Imperial Crown Style. For the purpose of this paper, the phenomenon of this style will be uncovered, and its place in the development of Japan’s architecture will be determined.</p><p>Research suggests that, on the one hand, the Imperial Crown Style was a definite result of a search for development of national architecture and a response to the dominance of European styles. On the other hand, it became a reflection of its time and nationalist tendencies prevailing in the country.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>стиль «императорской короны»</kwd><kwd>архитектура Японии 1930-х гг.</kwd><kwd>поиски самоидентификации в архитектур</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>Imperial Crown Style</kwd><kwd>architecture of Japan in 1930s</kwd><kwd>search for self-identification in architecture</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Виолис А.
