Статья посвящена анализу хранящегося в Российском государственном архиве древних актов (РГАДА) документа начала XIX в. под условным названием «Альбом с чертежами крепостей и укреплений». В основном Альбом содержит чертежи бастионного фронта по предложениям известных европейских фортификаторов второй половины XVII – начала XVIII в.
В статье проведен детальный сравнительный анализ чертежей «по манеру господина Вобана» с переводным трактатом «Истинный способ укрепления городов», в котором изложены идеи Вобана. Показано, что все чертежи Альбома представляют только первую систему Вобана, тем не менее отличия между представленными в Альбоме чертежами есть и порой весьма существенные. При этом сличение графических и текстовых материалов Альбома и Трактата показало, что составитель Альбома не копировал текст и чертежи из Трактата, а создавал свои материалы самостоятельно. Анализ терминологии продемонстрировал, что составитель Альбома в общем следовал переводам трактатов XVIII в., но с переосмыслением и учетом устоявшихся понятий. Сравнение размеров основных частей и параметров крепостей на чертежах из Альбома с данными Трактата обнаружило как сходство, так и существенные отличия. Принципы разметки бастионного фронта в чертежах «по манеру господина Вобана» схожи с рекомендуемыми в Трактате, но имеют и некоторые оптимизации. Общий вывод: составитель Альбома наверняка пользовался трактатом «Истинный способ укрепления городов», но это был не единственный источник его информации даже для составления чертежей по методу Вобана. Высказано предположение, что чертежи Альбома могли являться частью учебной программы и создаваться кадетами Второго кадетского корпуса в Санкт-Петербурге под руководством известного инженера Льва Львовича Карбонье. Но они могли также быть созданы в качестве наглядного пособия для проведения занятий в этом или других учебных заведениях для подготовки военных инженеров.
The article is devoted to the analysis of an early 19th century document stored in the Russian State Archive of Ancient Acts (RGADA) under the code name “Album with drawings of fortresses and fortifications”. Basically the album contains drawings of the bastion front according to the proposals of famous European fortifiers of the second half of the 17th – early 18th centuries.
The article provides a detailed comparative analysis of the drawings “in the manner of Mr. Vauban” with the translated treatise “Истинный способ укрепления городов” (“Istinnyi sposob ukrepleniia gorodov”), which outlines Vauban’s ideas. It is shown that all the drawings in the Album represent only the first system of Vauban, nevertheless there are differences between the drawings presented in the Album, and sometimes quite significant. At the same time, a comparison of the graphic and textual materials of the Album and the Treatise showed that the compiler of the Album did not copy the text and drawings from the Treatise, but created his own materials on his own. The analysis of the terminology showed that the compiler of the Album generally followed the translations of the 18th century treatises, but with a rethinking and taking into account established concepts. Comparison of the dimensions of the main parts and the parameters of the fortresses in the drawings from the Album with the data of the Treatise revealed both similarities and significant differences. The principles of marking the bastion front in the drawings “in the manner of Mr. Vauban” are similar to those recommended in the Treatise, but they also have some optimizations. General conclusion: the compiler of the Album certainly used the treatise Истинный способ укрепления городов” (“Istinnyi sposob ukrepleniia gorodov”), but this was not the only source of his information, even for making drawings according to Vauban’s method. It is suggested that the drawings of the Album could be part of the curriculum and created by cadets of the Second Cadet Corps in St. Petersburg under the guidance of the famous engineer Lev Lvovich Carbonnier. But they could also be created as a visual aid for conducting classes in this or other educational institutions for the training of military engineers.
